Hawaiʻi has a self-defense law that allows the use of reasonable force, even deadly force, if someone believes it is immediately necessary to protect against unlawful force by someone else. Deadly force is not justified if the person who feels threatened can safely retreat or walk away from a threatening situation. Should Hawaiʻi change its law to mirror other states where retreat is not necessary?
